Built On Clarity, Accuracy, And Real-World Experience

I turn what your people know into documentation they can follow: procedures, work instructions, training material and safety programs, written from watching the job.

Who You're Working With

I’m Ben Crawford, and RBC Knowledge Group is my practice: twenty years of writing documentation for complex systems. Based in North Little Rock. On site anywhere within a day’s drive; remote for everyone else, with a video walkthrough in place of the floor visit.

Before this, I spent six years at Cognex as the sole Logistics and Americas-based Senior Technical Writer, writing for the machine-vision and barcode-reading systems that run on packaging lines and in distribution centers. That’s where I learned that the procedure on the wall and the way the line actually runs are two different documents, and that the second one is the only one worth writing.

The rest of my background is regulated software: clinical and financial workflows at athenahealth, diagnostic systems at Siemens, and documentation for Meta, Google, Waymo, WhatsApp and Chime through TaskUs, where I grew a writing team from five to twenty-two. Regulated work has the same bones as a plant audit: document control, revision history, a named owner and a sign-off. An ISO or OSHA auditor is asking for exactly those things. I’ve been producing them for twenty years.

That is the background behind every project here: documentation written by someone who has stood on the floor, asked the operator what actually happens, and then written it down so the next person can follow it.

Every document I write reflects how the work actually gets done, not how somebody assumed it did.

What I do

Documentation that supports day-to-day operations, training and audits: SOPs, work instructions, safety and lockout procedures, quality manuals and training material, written from watching the job.

How I work

I watch the job, ask the operator what the procedure leaves out, and write the version he would sign his name to. Your people review it, so the result is a document somebody can follow at 2am with the line down.

Who I work with

Manufacturers, warehouses, carriers and construction crews, from a single line to a multi-site operation. On site within a day’s drive of North Little Rock; remote anywhere else.

Start with one procedure

Send me a procedure you already use and I’ll send it back rewritten within five business days, with notes on what I changed, at no charge. One page, one per company.
